Publishing openly does not mean exposing everything. Photo(n)'s public blog sits on top of a broader security system: authenticated boundaries, moderated content flows, GDPR-aware operations, and controlled AI processing.

Public does not mean unrestricted internals
The public journal should not mirror every internal layer of Photo(n). It should only expose what can be understood safely in public: carefully chosen posts, aggregate signals, and explanations that do not depend on private user activity.
That matters because public content is indexable and meant for a wider audience. Security by default starts by deciding what belongs in open view and what should stay out of the journal entirely.
- Keep private user activity and sensitive workflows out of the public journal.
- Expose only dedicated public endpoints with sanitized aggregates.
- Treat the blog as its own trust surface, with clear rules about what can be shown.

AI processing and data boundaries
Photo(n)'s AI analysis is not treated as an unbounded black box. The Gemini path runs on managed Google Vertex AI infrastructure, and photo analysis only happens after explicit consent during upload. The platform also supports a separate Mistral path for image analysis, keeping the AI layer tied to named providers and controlled workflows.
Those boundaries matter because the AI system is limited to the uploaded photo itself. Security here is not only about access control. It is also about keeping the AI path scoped, making consent explicit, and making sure public reporting stays aggregate instead of drifting into user-level visibility.

Moderation, messaging, and compliance are part of the core system
Photo(n)'s security model also extends into day-to-day participation. Photos go through NSFW screening on upload, and the current pipeline fails closed when moderation cannot complete safely. Community members can flag photos and comments for GDPR privacy issues, harassment, misinformation, copyright concerns, and other harms, while moderation histories and appeal flows give users a structured path to challenge decisions.
Messaging follows the same principle of bounded exposure. Photo(n) includes an end-to-end encryption architecture for chat with user key management and encrypted message handling where the client environment supports it, while clearly warning users when a browser cannot provide that protection. Alongside that, GDPR data rights, deletion flows, and DSA-style appeal windows make compliance part of the product architecture instead of a policy page afterthought.
